Keep Fighting the Good Fight

Joshua 1: 7-9
7  "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Devotional:
Do you find it hard to wrap your brain around the idea that Moses and his people had direct contact with the Lord? Our form of getting instruction and laws from him can feel so different than how we read it in the Bible. This passage was instruction to Joshua and his people. They were told to keep the law and remain focused on what the Lord has put before you. These instructions still remain true for us today. In our everyday lives we need to keep God’s will and truth in the forefront of our minds. We need to have his word on our hearts to the point that we know how to take action for the betterment of the kingdom. We have talked about this idea before this summer, be courageous and brave in everyday, be intentional with your living, let go of fear and live for God. All of these topics come down to this, God will empower you and equip you where he has called you. As you move and live for him he will continuously show up and provide for you.

Challenge:
This week make a plan on how you are going to continue living courageously for God. How are you going to maintain intentional living and showing others who God is through your life? How are you going to write his words on your heart? Create or find a Bible reading plan that you think you can stick to. It does not have to be one where you read 100 pages in a day but find one that is your pace and start it. Find a time in your day that you can give to God and dedicate time with him. Make a schedule, write it down, and begin creating a habit of being God in every day.

Prayer:
God this last week we have been focusing on your plan and design for us. We thank you for including us in your plan for the world. Thank you for allowing us to work for your kingdom. This week God we want to find time with you. Help us find the best way to come close to you. We want your words and truth in our hearts to guide us in everyday. Help us have the discipline and strength to stick to a plan. God we ask that you show up in our quiet time. We pray that you speak to us in the times we are seeking you. Allow us to quiet our hearts and minds so we can hear you. We love you and we thank you, in your sons name, Amen.
