Plan and Design

Psalm 23:4:
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right path for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valleys, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

This Psalm is from David, and is used often in liturgical settings as a request for the Lord’s provision. This selection discusses the Lord walking through our lives with us. Verse five says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." This may  not mean that there will be a literal table set before us, but God has a plan and design for our lives. Even in our trials when it can feel he has forgotten about us, he has a plan. As we talked about last week, he will redeem our pain and our joy for the goodness of his kingdom.
Last week we prayed about the redemption we see in our lives and the redemption we need in our lives. This week we are going to pray over the plan and design that God has for us. There may not be only one correct path to God but there is a correct direction, facing him in all things and in decision. This week pray that God brings the direction he has intended for you into the light. Pray that in your every step that he is with you. Spend some time evaluating your life and beware of areas that are not pleasing to God. Where in your life are you following God’s plan and design and where are you straying from his will?

God we thank you for the glory of your redemption. We pray that this week we can see the plans you have in store for us. I pray that we can see where we fall short and need to redirect ourselves and where we are truly following you. I pray that with your help we can realign our hearts with yours and we can begin to pursue you with all we do. In your sons name, Amen.
